Three reviews in one week of August 2026 are warmly positive: good fish and chips with three sauces, one thrown in as a bonus, large portions, prices called more than good, and staff who stayed patient through a payment hiccup. Older praise is for the chips, called the best in Gibraltar by a visitor who went back the next day and planned their shopping around the opening times, and a Spanish reviewer's picks of the pepper sirloin, the marengo and a 'pepa stake' from the menu.

Two reviews cut the other way. In July 2026 a customer got a kebab that was hard and chips that were undercooked and said Gilbert's was once brilliant but no longer; in February 2026 someone phoning about an order had the line hung up on them.
