• The reviews the marketplace shows first are the happy ones: hundreds of dolphins, room to move about a catamaran, a crew that knows where the pods are and drifts, trails and runs the bow wave to give everyone an encounter.
• The summary scores tell the other half. Guide, transport and value all sit around 3.5, well under the other two boats, and the overall 3.8 is dragged there by reviews the default sort does not surface. Read the lowest-rated ones before booking.
• Practicalities cause some of it. The operator confirms your start time by message after booking rather than at purchase, and at least one party ended up at the wrong meeting point following satnav to the football ground; the boat leaves from Marina Bay by Ocean Village.
• Wind comes up on the bay in the afternoon. More than one reviewer says bring a jacket even on a clear day.
