What it's like

A cluster of pastel houses tucked under the eastern cliffs around a small sand beach, founded by Genoese fishermen and still known locally as La Caleta. It feels Mediterranean in a way the rest of Gibraltar does not — a handful of restaurants, a sea wall, and the sheer east face rising directly behind the rooftops. About fifteen minutes by bus from town, and almost entirely missed by day-trippers, who never leave the western side.
