Our review

Seawave is the beach bar at Catalan Bay, on Sir Herbert Miles Road, and on the reviews it remains close to the only place to sit down and eat there. It holds 3.6 on Tripadvisor from 255 reviews and 3.9 on Google from 301, giving an Index of 3.80. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the newest arrived the day before.

The good visits are still real, and they are mostly about the plate and the view. A shared mixed paella was called amazing in July 2026, Spanish visitors in June 2026 rated the food the best they had eaten in Gibraltar and found the two waitresses attentive, and August reviewers describe good, plentiful food at fair prices on a terrace right over the sea. Older reviews name the fried dogfish and the pulpo a la gallega, and note that locals eat there.

But the summer of 2026 has hardened the service complaints into something more specific. Three separate accounts from July and August describe being charged for items never ordered, or handed a receipt for more than the bill, and one of those tables says the staff then asked them to leave. Others describe being told an empty terrace was reserved, a diner left waiting for dogfish that never existed while friends ate, and burgers sent back undercooked and returned to the table still raw.

The pattern runs both ways in the same fortnight, which is the honest picture: a Spanish reviewer in June called the food the best in town and, in the same breath, said the waiters wandered between tables and brought wrong or double orders. Long-standing customers said in 2024 that it had slipped since a change of ownership, and a gluten-intolerant visitor in May 2026 was told a dish was gluten free when it was not. A German review from 5 September describes a very slow wait for a menu, uncleared plates and pigeons on the tables.

Come for a beer or a plate of Mediterranean beach food with the sea in front of you, and check the bill line by line before paying. If you want reliable service, or you have a dietary need, the reviews are clear enough that town is the safer choice. Disgusted at the arrogance
Awful service and attitude from the staff, sat at a table partly shaded from the midday sun with no reserved sign to be told it was reserved as he flung the next tables sign over, we then moved to the covered area where i saw no reserved signs at all and again he came over and said the whole area was reserved while guys he had been chattimore →

Views beautiful restaurant terrible
I have never been to a restaurant as bad as this the dish i had was awful and it looked like it had just been slapped on the plate the grilled pork was so white and the taste was terrible as if it was cooked with fish i just could not eat it the servers was not polite at all and when we left they did not even ask why i did not eat the dismore →

Nice food awful service
Never been anywhere where the service was as bad as this place. Miserable staff that didn’t want to serve us or just couldn’t be arsed! Took forever and had to remind them of one dish ordered that never turned up. Nice food but just thrown down with out a smile. Wouldn’t return which is a shame as the location is lovely. Wouldn't be back
Service was extremely slow despite not many people being there. Felt practically ignored (until payment). I also requested gluten free options and unfortunately what I was told was gluten free, actually wasn't causing a stomach upset. (Luckily I'm not celiac just intolerant). Food itself was pleasant enough but wouldn't go back.more →

Came with three friends and we all ordered food. I ordered dog fish and fries. They provided my friends with their meals and me with my fries. My friend’s cheese burger arrived without the cheese, he had to ask for it to be taken back to be sorted. Customer service was nonexistent. We waited about 15 mins and no one acknowledged us. We had to go into the bar to ask the bartender for a table even though multiple workers saw us standing there waiting. Good and drinks were served promptly only to discover the burgers were undercooked, they took them back to the kitchen and the same burmore →
