Asilah Takeaway

Asilah Takeaway is a small family-run Moroccan takeaway with a few seats on Prince Edward's Road, in a back alley a few minutes from Main Street. It scores a perfect 5.0 on Tripadvisor from 2 reviews and 5.0 on Google from 19, and the Index puts it at 4.70. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest is from June 2026.

Not one review on either platform is below five stars. The food is called authentic, home-made and fresh: a lamb tagine that a visitor from Mexico was still thinking about months later, a couscous described as outstanding, and desserts praised by Polish reviewers. One reviewer photographed the menu, which runs beyond Moroccan grills to tandoori and tikka chicken, lasagne, harira and lentil soups, burgers and fruit smoothies, and notes seating for about seven.

The owners and their sons come up in nearly every account for kindness and hospitality; a reviewer who doubted the place on walking in was won over by the food. Prices are called affordable and portions generous, the place is impeccably clean, and a March 2026 reviewer rates the coffee above the tourist shops on Main Street.

The only caveat is the size of the record, and the Tripadvisor base of two in particular. The Google reviews, though, say the same thing over three years, and several of them are in Spanish and Polish rather than English, which suggests a mixed local and visiting trade.
