Our review

Freska E1 is a restaurant on the ground floor of the E1 apartment building on Devil's Tower Road, with its tables in the lobby, serving breakfast through to dinner. It holds 4.3 on Tripadvisor from 16 reviews, down from 4.6 at the last read, and 4.5 on Google from 115, which gives an Index of 4.50. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026 and the newest was written the day before.

What people like has not changed: large portions, a clean air-conditioned room that walkers off the Rock are grateful for, a kid-friendly balance of formal and informal, and a menu that runs from a full English to a Sunday roast. The vegan special breakfast is praised in Spanish and English, the Eiffel Tower burger and the burgers generally get named, and staff are thanked by name: Alexis, Sam, Fatima and Jasmine. One April 2026 group had breakfast for 28 handled from booking to last drink without a hitch.

The picture has changed since August 2026, and it is about service under pressure. A regular writing on Tripadvisor on 9 August says the place is hit and miss, with breakfast finished before the coffee arrives when busy and waiters who need better organisation; a second review the same day says simply that the food is fine and the service poor. On Google in late August a couple watched their wraps handed to another table who began eating them, another found the service chaotic and the staff unfriendly, and the newest review, in September, is a single word: overrated.

Price has been a note for longer. A December 2024 local found mains of sixteen pounds and up too much for a lunch trade, while noting a two-course set menu at £12.90 as a fair offer, and a July 2026 reviewer thought it worth paying a little extra. The breakfasts are typically British, and one visitor wanted more fresh vegetables.

Come for a big breakfast or a working lunch in a clean, cool room in the E1 lobby on Devil's Tower Road, and for group bookings it has handled well; go in knowing that since August 2026 several reviewers describe slow, muddled service when it is busy. Improvement Needed
I come here quite often, but unfortunately, the experience can be very hit and miss. The food is generally above average, but the service can be disappointing, particularly when the restaurant is busy. Outstanding food and customer service.
Absolutely outstanding place to eat with the best customer service. The staff truly make this place but ohhhh the food is superb. Excellent menu choice and huge portions.
