This is the Gibraltar branch of wagamama, on the Ocean Village promenade with outside tables by the marina: 3.9 on Tripadvisor from 216 reviews, 4.2 on Google from 579, and an Index of 4.10. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026 and run to the day before. It is judged as the chain it is, and more than one reviewer says so in the same words: it does what it says on the tin.

The service is what lifts it, and it is named. Angie is thanked three times in the first week of September 2026, Manuel twice in Spanish, Khadim, Chaimae and Salvador in July and August, Rafa in January; a waitress at a children's birthday impressed with her knowledge of every ingredient, a waiter kept three children amused with tricks and treats, and a family with a son's allergies felt safe. A cluster of same-week reviews naming one server reads like staff-prompted praise, which does not make it untrue.

The food is fresh and as expected, and the setting is good. The caveats: the chairs are low, there is no breakfast, and two reviewers who wanted authentic Japanese food say this is Asian fusion and not for them. Prices are called reasonable for Gibraltar.

The complaints repeat across two years: slow service, forgotten dishes, and one partner finishing before the other's plate came, and came wrong. Kitchen staff shouting loudly enough to spoil lunches in October 2025 and May 2026, and to make two diners walk out. A June 2025 business lunch says a cold chicken dish sent three people home ill, an unverified account. And in August 2026 a table of five found £115 keyed into the card machine on a £105 bill, were told the difference was the tip, and were laughed at when they asked for it back.
