About Town Area

Gibraltar's historic centre and one of its seven districts, running from Casemates Square at the north end down Main Street to Southport Gates. Casemates is the point most visitors reach first, on foot from the frontier or up from the cruise terminal, and its old barrack arches now hold the bar and restaurant terraces. Behind and above Main Street the lanes are residential, and between them they hold more short lets than anywhere else on the Rock. Central and walkable to almost everything; loud on the square at a weekend, noticeably quieter three streets back.

Location is the headline — steps from Main Street's bars and restaurants, and guests call it quiet despite that.
Check-in is self-service and repeatedly described as genuinely hassle-free.
Clean, modern and well-equipped come up consistently for the standard rooms and apartments.

Worth knowing. The sharpest complaints are about expectation gaps at the top of the range: a "penthouse suite" that arrived as a compact room with a kitchenette on a worktop, and a host who went quiet when a problem was raised. The smaller categories read truer to their listings than the grander ones.

As a central, keyless crash-pad it delivers: the standard studios and apartments are reviewed as clean, modern and easy, in the best location in town. The record turns rough exactly where the names get fancy — "penthouse" is doing heavy lifting in some listings — so book the category down, not the title up.
