Caryl's Soul Food is a small owner-run healthy-food café and takeaway in Cornwall's Yard, off Main Street. It is not on Tripadvisor; on Google it holds a perfect 5.0 but from only 12 reviews, so it is listed on the Index but not ranked. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the newest is from February 2024, so everything here is at least two and a half years old.

The reviews describe food made fresh that day on the premises by the owner, Caryl, who is always there: a mild chicken curry, grilled chicken, pasta, lasagne, an Africana baguette, pisto for a regular who loves it, and homemade granola with yoghurt. Vegetarian and vegan options are mentioned, along with oat-milk lattes, a spiced Queen Midas oat drink, turmeric golden lattes and cacao bars in gold foil. Granola, maca and ashwagandha are sold in jars.

The welcome is as praised as the food. Nothing is too much trouble for Caryl and her partner, one reviewer eats there almost every day, and another had a message from the owner that evening asking whether they had enjoyed their meal. There is a covered area outside to sit at or take away from.
