chök is a modern pastry, cookie and coffee shop at 249 Main Street, scoring 4.4 on Google across 236 reviews. It is not on Tripadvisor, so the Index of 4.40 rests on Google alone, and on that many reviews it barely moves from the source score. We re-read the reviews on 6 September 2026 and the newest is from August.

The baking is the draw and the counter is part of it. Reviewers describe walking in for the smell and the look of everything, and single out the cinnamon rolls, a classic brownie, passion fruit and pistachio cheesecakes, vegan muffins and the cookies and cakes generally. Staff are called sweet, helpful and kind, and it is a handy stop while waiting for a taxi up the Rock.

Gluten-free is a real point of difference. There are two chök shops on Main Street run by the same family, one of them fully gluten-free; coeliac visitors were thrilled with a focaccia, a Kinder cinnamon roll and the coffee and matcha, while this branch is noted as the one with more vegan options.

Price is the recurring complaint, and it is louder in 2026. A Spanish reviewer found around ten euros for a slice of cheesecake unjustified, especially with no toilet on the premises, and was unmoved by the shop's reply; a German visitor found a nine-euro gluten-free pistachio roll dry; another called a red velvet cookie more like a cake at premium pricing. The coffee divides people too, called amazing by some and very poor by others, and a passion fruit smoothie was said to be made from concentrate rather than fruit.
