Our review

Eat and Chat is a small, family-run cafe on the first floor of the ICC serving English breakfasts, home-cooked pies and cakes. It holds 4.9 on Tripadvisor from 71 reviews and 4.3 on Google from 41, which gives an Index of 4.60. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest Tripadvisor review is from May 2026 and the newest Google review from August.

The two platforms tell different stories. Tripadvisor is regulars and annual visitors: the Mega breakfast that beat one reviewer and was conquered a year later, breakfasts in three sizes, pie, mash, peas and gravy, Lee the chef's lemon meringue, prices unchanged from the previous year, and a family greeted like family. A March 2026 German review agrees, calling it a very good English breakfast at a fair price.

Google is where the trouble is, and it is specific. Three Hebrew reviews from September 2025 describe being shouted at over paying in euros, with a rate of £20 to €30 or a six-euro surcharge, and a place that felt like a tourist trap; a June 2026 one-star describes the owner shouting when a customer said a burger was dry; an August 2026 three-star found tinned tomatoes and mushrooms and a breakfast like any other. A January four-star is kinder but notes it is cash only and that phones at other tables make chatting hard.

So the practical advice is clear. Bring pounds in cash: it does not take cards, it takes euros at its own rate, and the arguments in the reviews all begin at the till. Those who order the breakfast and pay in sterling are, on the evidence, the ones who leave happy.

Come for a big, cheap, home-cooked breakfast in the size you can manage, with cash in pounds and no expectations of a view; be aware that the Google side, from autumn 2025 on, describes a short temper at the counter. You cannot go anywhere else.
Once again, best breakfast anywhere but could not face a Mega on the 3rd Day. All day was fine. Prices were still the same as last year!. Always greeted warmly. Its nice to go back each year although i forgot to review last year(sorry). ps Bus Driver brought my phone back.more →

I had the MEGA breakfast. It's the 1st time a breakfast has beaten me. MEGA is the only word for it. And brilliant value. Go ,you will not be disappointed or hungry when you leave. Lovely people as well.more →

Small cafe in the centre but has many seats outside. Food - got 2 cheeseburgers and cans. Chips were nice and crispy and burger only had cheese (as the waitress says 'we don't put any other crap on it' which suits me perfectly) decent sized burger and nice cheese and decent roll.
