Jumpers Wheel is a Spanish-run fish restaurant on Rosia Road, about a mile south of the town centre: 4.1 on Tripadvisor from 94 reviews, 3.7 on Google from 86, and an Index of 3.90. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026. The two sources no longer agree the way they once did, and the gap is the story: Tripadvisor has been quiet since October 2025 while Google has filled up with angry reviews.

The case for it has not changed. Reviewers who like it call it the best fresh fish in the area and name what they ate: octopus, anchovies in vinegar, grilled sardines, sole, John Dory, red mullet, sea bream, sea bass and fried squid, with a catch of the day and the option of small portions to share. A peppered steak and the takeaway service get a mention in April 2026, and a regular calls it their go-to place. That it is a Spanish-speaking local room with hardly any tourists is, for these reviewers, the appeal.

Slow service is the constant. Half an hour before an order was taken in a half-empty room, nearly two hours for a light lunch, an hour and a half for a simple meal, and a children's birthday party where the agreed seating was changed without notice and the food came late. Several British reviewers felt local tables were served first, and one dismisses that outright, having found the proprietor delightful. The language gap is real: most staff speak Spanish, and the reviewers who enjoyed it say so and tell you not to let it stop you.

The Google run since late 2025 is harsher than anything before it. Complaints about £10 of bread and olives that were not asked for, £3.50 for a dish of olives, ketchup sachets charged at 10p each, and a burger in July 2026 likened to a chip-shop one. One December 2025 review alleges a rodent under the table, a single unverified account, and one July 2026 one-word review is too thin to count. The picture has changed since the summer of 2025, and not for the better.

Come for fresh fish by species at a proper local Spanish restaurant, ordering small plates to share, and go in patient and with a little Spanish. A haven from the English Pub Grub served up in most of Gibraltar
There have been quite a few reviews of this restaurant saying that the service is shocking, the staff are dismissive and rude to foreigners and did not speak any English. This could not have been further from our experience. The proprietor and staff were delightful and welcoming. They spoke English far better than my Spanish, the menu wasmore →

Lovely food - appalling service
The restaurant was by no means full - we had a choice of at least half a dozen tables, but the service was very slow; getting on for half an hour before our food order was taken.
