Our review

Mamma Mia is a pizzeria and Italian on Red Sands Road with an outdoor patio and a view of the Rock. It is the most-reviewed restaurant on the Index: 4.4 on Tripadvisor from 1,755 reviews and 4.1 on Google from 1,070, an Index of 4.30. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the newest are from this week.

Every one of the 28 reviews in this batch is four or five stars, all posted between late July and early September 2026, so this is a picture of a good summer rather than a balanced one. Pizza is still the reason people arrive, praised for coming out fast and tasting fresh, but the loudest recent praise is for the pasta: a bruschetta Italia starter that a regular calls among the best he has had, a spaghetti with meatballs whose sauce was 'to die for', gambas pil pil, and a large salmon dish cooked perfectly. Portions are generous, prices are called really good, and the Chianti gets a plug.

The waiters are named as much as the food. Younes, spelt three ways, is thanked in six of the fifteen most recent Tripadvisor reviews for warmth and attentiveness. Pablo, also called Paul, remains a fixture, praised for removing a persistent wasp among other kindnesses, and Paco is named too. Dogs are welcome on the patio, bread came free on request, and a late-arriving couple felt the place stayed open just for them.

The honest caveats come from outside this sample. A Google score of 4.1 across more than a thousand reviews means a fair number of diners have been less happy than anyone here, and nothing in the current batch explains why. Within it, the only quibble is meatballs that could have had more piquancy, and the room is casual rather than refined.

Unreal experience and service
Great experience as always. I have been a few times and every time I have been to this restaurant it’s been superb. Some of the best food in Gibraltar. All the pasta dishes are superb, 100% recommend the bruschetta Italia as a starter, (some the best I’ve ever had). I also had the salmon dish tonight and wow it was a big portion and cookemore →

Delicious!!!
The food was absolutely delicious! We are from Ukraine, and we really enjoyed everything we ordered. Paco provided excellent service — he was very kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend! ❤️more →

On a two week whirlwind tour of Europe we were fortunate enough to come across this pizzeria. It has a pleasant outdoor patio, the food was fabulous, they wrangled us up some ice for our cokes, and the staff was very attentive and dogs are welcome!
