Our review

Papa Luigi is a wood-fired pizza place in the Watergardens, just outside Ocean Village, trading alongside Timmaz burgers and kebabs at the same address. It holds 4.6 on Tripadvisor from 161 reviews and 4.0 on Google from 145, which pulls the Index to 4.30. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the currency matters here: the newest Tripadvisor review is from August 2025 and almost all the others are from 2022 or earlier, while Google runs to July 2026.

The pizza is what everyone agrees on: a real wood oven, thin bases, generous toppings and quick service when the kitchen is not buried. Reviewers call it the best pizza in Gibraltar more than once, gluten-free bases are available on request, and one January 2026 customer who received the wrong pizza had a larger replacement inside half an hour without argument. Prices for the pizza are called reasonable.

It is a takeaway with a terrace rather than a restaurant. Seating is outside only, a handful of tables on a busy road, and one 2026 reviewer notes the terrace gets hot in the sun. Delivery and online ordering exist, though one reviewer found the website confusing and another that it will not accept a UK phone number.

The picture on Google has changed for the better. Between 2023 and 2024 there is a run of one-star reviews: a cold delivery with missing items, hair in the food, a cold oven producing greasy pizza, and £10.90 for a small doner. Since February 2025 every Google review has been four or five stars, with a single exception: the August 2025 account, posted on both sites, of an hour and a half's wait for a cold pizza from staff with little English. That is the newest thing on Tripadvisor, which is why the two scores tell different stories.

Come for good wood-fired pizza to take away or eat at a roadside table, and expect it to be quick outside peak; go in knowing the Tripadvisor score rests on old reviews, that the 2023 to 2024 run on Google was rough, and that a very slow night is on record as recently as August 2025. Great pizzas
Located just outside of Ocean Village , this small pizza place majors on take aways and delivery although they do have several small tables outside. Efficient and friendly staff. Pizzas are lovely. They seem to have branched out into burgers and rotisserie chicken too and trade under the name of Timmaz at the same premises.more →

A quick lunchtime shared pizza visit! Had a great Parma ham pizza and few beers and as always fabulous pizza but they now down to only 1 4seater table on roadside so mainly Take Away now.more →
