Pizzeria Plaza is a wood-fired pizza takeaway by Waterport and Market Lane, just outside Casemates. Until today it was a Google-only listing; its Tripadvisor page was found and attached on 6 September 2026, so Tripadvisor now counts alongside Google. It stands at 4.3 from 172 Tripadvisor reviews and 4.3 from 387 on Google, for an Index of 4.30. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the newest is from this month.

The pizza itself is still the reason to come. Big slices sold by the counter, always available, wood-fired and generously sized; a kebab pizza with yoghurt sauce is the local favourite and two Spanish reviewers this August called it the best pizzeria in Gibraltar. One visitor in August 2025 put it alongside Naples, and older reviews describe it as better than pizza they had in Italy. There is a seating area outside under trees (watch the pigeons, says one), and eat-in, takeaway and delivery are all offered.

The picture has soured on service, and it soured this summer. Early August 2026 brought a cluster of one-star reviews about long waits, a promised twenty minutes stretching to an hour, staff attitude, and pizza arriving chewy and cold; a Tripadvisor reviewer the same week waited forty minutes and was handed the wrong pizza. A three-star review in the same window puts it fairly: the pizza is worth it if you do not mind waiting, because they are almost always busy. The newest review of all, in Swedish, says they closed fifty minutes early.

Delivery is the older, longer-running complaint. Tripadvisor carries a run of accounts from 2021 to 2024 of two-hour waits, missing items, orders never prepared, and a business customer who ordered twenty family pizzas a month for two years and gave up after two late deliveries in a row. One 2024 review says the place went from one of the most consistent in Gibraltar to one of the most inconsistent. A one-star Tripadvisor review about their Chinese food under the Beijing Plaza name is about a different menu and is discounted here.

Come for a slice or a whole wood-fired pizza to eat outside, at a time when you are not in a hurry; order delivery knowing the record is patchy. Nobody from Gibraltar Index has eaten here, and this write-up is drawn from the reviews.

My vegetarian pizza that my son waited 40 minutes for was a ham and pineapple pizza. Then waited another 15 minutes for my pizza. If u r not hungry then use this place otherwise wise eat somewhere elsemore →

AMAZING August 2025
This place is incredible! I’ve had pizza in Naples, the birthplace of pizza, and this is right up there with the best of them. Every bite was so delicious that I kept coming back again and again. If it weren’t for my flight home, I’d still be eating here every day. I can’t wait to return in 2026; this will be my very first stop!more →

If you are a loyal customer they leave you for last
Every month for the past 2 years we order pizza, (average 20 family pizzas for our employees) always been fantastic, but the past 2 months I have been let down, this month order placed and paid for at 11:25 am, app said estimated delivery 12:10, phoned at 12:45 and they said we are busy so another hour atleast, they always use to be here more →

Truly fallen from greatness
Unfortunately this place has really gone down hill but the prices have remained high. Used to be a great spot for a quick meal but I have no idea what’s happened but it’s gone from one of the most consistent places for food in Gib to one of the most inconsistent. The pizza is really good and definitely worth trying. The only downside is the wait time—it can take quite a while because they’re almost always busy. If you don’t mind waiting a bit, you’ll be rewarded with great pizza. Hopefully they can improve the speed of servicemore →
