Our review

The Aragon is a small, family-run British pub on Bell Lane, a side street off Main Street. It scores 2.9 on Tripadvisor from 84 reviews and a far kinder 4.0 on Google from 244, and the Index, weighing both, sits at 3.7. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the newest is from that week, so the picture is current.

The Google side is where the pub does best, and mostly for drinks: a cold, well-priced pint, a quiet street away from the crowds, and staff several reviewers found welcoming, with Danni, Jack and chef Suzie named in older reviews. Italian and German visitors in summer 2026 rated the fish and chips highly, crisp and dry with a fair portion, and a quiche of the day and a club sandwich were praised in February. The kitchen closes at 3pm, according to one reviewer.

The Tripadvisor side is much harsher, and the food is the reason. Reviewers describe frozen, reheated food, a soggy tuna sandwich, a cottage pie that was mostly gravy, a heated cheesecake and filthy toilets, and a May 2026 Google reviewer reckoned the cod was tilapia in a heavy coating. One long one-star review from November 2025 pastes in a string of other people's complaints, so we have discounted the copied part and counted only its own inedible fish and chips.

Money comes up on both platforms: a pint, a tea and a toastie for £17 in July 2026, a suspected overcharge in 2025, a poor exchange rate in January 2025, and a German visitor in March 2026 advising card over cash. The welcome has also turned patchy in 2026, with two Google reviewers in July and August describing a rude or unfriendly owner or barman, a Spanish visitor in September overhearing staff discussing customers in English, and a February Tripadvisor visitor simply finding it unfriendly.

Hoped for a real scone and tea experience
Because I was in the UK, I was expecting a nice scone. It was very disappointing. I've had scones in the UK and the US. All have been better. The tea was good. We sat next to a couple from the UK--that was interesting.more →

Awful, avoid like the plague (You might even get the plague. from my experience)
a minute ago Had to wait an age for the food. Don't ask for the fish & chips, my fish was disgusting and not edible, but they even had the cheek to ask me to pay for the chips £4.50 (which worked out at about 40p for each one!!) again terrible. Its a shame I have to give it one star! Minus 5 would be appropriate. Partly my fault as imore →

Hot Cheesecake??
We decided to have a meal here on our first day in Gibraltar. The lady who took our order was friendly and our food arrived quickly. We had the lasagne with chips and the scampi with chips and salad, both were quite nice. For dessert, we ordered apple pie with ice cream and New York cheesecake, they took a while to come and we suspect themore →

Ottimo fish and Chips, una porzione non esagerata che per me andava benissimo. Cottura ottima, asciutta e croccante. La birra sempre ottima. Prezzo nella media, servizio veloce e curato.
