Barbary is the restaurant aboard the Sunborn, the yacht hotel moored at Ocean Village, on the seventh deck with marina views, serving breakfast to guests and lunch, brunch and dinner to anyone. It holds 4.3 on Tripadvisor from 68 reviews and 3.5 on Google from 21, an Index of 4.10. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest Tripadvisor review is from July, and Google has had none since December 2025.

The two sources describe different restaurants. On Tripadvisor almost every review is five stars and most exist to name staff: Alex and Susanna three times on a single day in July 2026, Soraya O twice on one day in May, and a roll-call of Saskia, Kystel, Laura, Mohammed, Manuel, Yadira, Maria, Sonia, Erwan, Rehman R and Amy across the rest. Several are written by guests eating breakfast aboard daily. That density of first names on the same dates is the pattern of reviews written at the table, and it inflates the score even where the warmth is genuine.

The food, where it is described, has two clear wins: a bottomless brunch in July 2026 with a four-kofta starter and a beef Wellington 'cooked perfectly', and the Christmas afternoon tea with Santa, which one family found beautifully done. Cocktails from the Aqua bar and a locally distilled Campion gin are recommended, and happy hour ran five to seven when a 2025 reviewer visited. The cooking is described as Mediterranean with Moroccan touches, alongside fish and chips and loaded fries.

Google carries the criticism. A party of eleven at Christmas dinner in December 2025 found the food tasteless apart from the sole, the lighting too bright, the singer poor and a 12.5% service charge applied regardless, and a Sunday roast in October 2025 was plain, with no homemade desserts. Older Google reviews record slipped standards at a previous Christmas, pre-payment demanded, unbalanced plates, microwaved-looking mash and one that just says 'took long and raw food'. Service is generally called friendly even in the critical reviews.

Come for the bottomless brunch or a cocktail on deck with the marina below, the novelty of a moored superyacht being most of the point. Go in knowing that the set-piece Christmas meals have drawn the sharpest criticism, that a 12.5% service charge is added, and that the Tripadvisor glow is largely staff tributes. Fabulously Tasty Food and Drink at a great value Brunch
Visited Barbary on the afternoon of Saturday 4th July 2026. Was staying on the Sunborn so decided we would try the Bottomless Brunch All I can day is WOW the food was out of this world and the drinks service was plentiful. Group of 11 friends for Christmas dinner in December 2025. Food was absolute tasteless (apart from one - the sole). Zero ambiance. Lighting way too bright. Singer was rubbish. Went there for a Sunday roast, I was expecting a bit more class on the food side. It is a bit plain and boring, lots of room for improvement, may be more elaborate dishes, and also more home made desserts as they were none. Service staff very nice and smiling nothing wrong there. The restaurant is in very unique place - 5 star hotel boat. It is on 7th deck, so the views are very nice. The cuisine is mixed between Mediterranean and Moroccan. The starters were interesting and very good, the bread is really tasty as well. The main course were ok, Tuna steak was ab it dry. Brownie cake for the dessert was really good more →
