Cabana is a beach bar at Camp Bay in the South District, and the reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026. It scores 4.3 on Tripadvisor from a small sample of 12 reviews and 4.5 on Google from 99, and the Index sits at 4.50, resting mostly on the larger Google sample. The setting is what everyone agrees on: sunset over the Strait, ships on the horizon, the fortress on the ridge above, and live music, with jazz nights and a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights both mentioned. Reviewers writing in Spanish call it the perfect spot to watch the sun go down, and families note it sits by the pool and the beach. One practical warning recurs: Google Maps delivers you to the cliff above and declares you have arrived.

The food has been warmly reviewed through spring and summer 2026. A Moroccan menu launched in May drew real enthusiasm, with a chicken pastilla taken home as a takeaway, lamb skewers and an aubergine dip called one of the best a reviewer had tasted, alongside the regular fish, seafood and meat menu; fresh dorada, warm bread rolls and desserts are praised in separate visits, and prices are called reasonable for Gibraltar. Not all of it lands: one visitor found the food "meh" against an epic ambience, and the coffee was called terrible.

The picture may have changed. The newest Tripadvisor review, from August 2026, reports new staff, a new kitchen and a new chef and menu, and describes a booked table of five waiting 45 minutes for a first dish that was the wrong one, a starter that never came, unordered items on the bill and no apology. A July Google reviewer also balked at £13.45 for a can of Guinness and a non-alcoholic mojito, while another found a £3 Heineken fair, so drink pricing reads uneven. Older complaints about slow service at a booked lunch, with mains arriving half an hour apart, date from 2022.

Come for the sunset, the music nights and a relaxed meal by the water, and book in summer; go in knowing the kitchen appears to have changed hands in 2026 and that the single most recent Tripadvisor account is a bad one.
