Our review

Cheers is a bar-restaurant on Cornwall's Parade, a few steps off Main Street, with indoor and outdoor seating, serving breakfasts, sandwiches and a short Spanish-leaning menu. It holds 3.3 on Tripadvisor from 38 reviews and 4 on Google from 168, for an Index of 3.90. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest Google review is from 5 September, and the newest Tripadvisor review from February 2026.

The 2026 reviews are warmer than the old Tripadvisor average suggests. A Spanish party in September thanked Pedro for excellent attention; a July visitor was steered to a top seabass, an avocado prawn salad and a local dessert; an April reviewer called the gourmet burger the best in Gibraltar at £13.50; and a couple went back every morning of a three-day stay for breakfast. Sandwiches at fair prices are the most consistent praise, going back years.

Fish and chips is the dish to avoid, and reviewers say so from every direction: an hour's wait in January 2026 because the first fish was overcooked and the second tasted horrible; the "worst fish and chips" the same month, with olives charged that were never ordered; a Dutch visitor in March finding the fish far too well done. A 2018 review reports a hair in the batter and a manager who shrugged.

The older Tripadvisor complaints, of English customers feeling unwelcome, of one table refused food while regulars ate, and of orders taking three staff to understand, are from 2018 to 2024 and do not recur in 2026, though a Polish reviewer in August felt obliged to buy a drink and found it dear for what it was. The toilets need attention, two reviewers say, one needing a pass to get in. Another Polish visitor sums up the fairest way to judge it: fine, if you take it as a bar rather than a restaurant.

Come for a cheap breakfast, a sandwich or the burger, and let the staff recommend from the specials; skip the fish and chips. The rating gap between the two sites is mostly age, and the recent picture is a decent neighbourhood bar with a kitchen that does simple things well. Nice but has its ups and downs
We wanted to have lunch somewhere and we did that at this restaurant in Gibraltar. The restaurant looks nice but when we already entered it was very difficult for the staff to understand what we were saying while we were just English. The toilet was also a disaster. I had to get a pass or something from the employees to get into the toilemore →

Rudeness and unfriendly manner from the beginning and mid breakfast.
Arrived and was confronted by the waitress saying that they never served food at a certain time which I thought ok. But then checked around me and three other customer tables had ordered food which I found unusual. The explanation offered was that they worked and were regulars. I told them I worked too. This is a great restaurant off Main Street in Gibraltar! They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We asked for recommendations and their suggestions were delicious!! Top notch seabass and avocado prawn salad. They also told us about a local dessert and it did not disappoint!
