Corner Restaurant

The Corner Restaurant, also called the Corner Café, is a locals' café at the top of Main Street on the corner of Turnbull's Lane and Engineer Lane, serving churros, breakfasts and Moroccan dishes. It scores 4.2 on Tripadvisor from 10 reviews and has no Google listing, so it is listed on the Index but not ranked. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest dates from April 2018, so this is an old picture.

The churros are the whole story for most reviewers: repeatedly called the best in town, fresh, served with papitas and a strong coffee that comes in glass cups. One couple were taken to the back to watch them being made. A big all-day English breakfast is the other staple, and in 2013 it cost £6.50.

The room is described as traditionally tiled, spotlessly clean and nearly always full of Gibraltarians, with swift no-frills service at low prices. The noise level, one reviewer warns, is colossal.

The Moroccan owner cooks cous-cous tagines, kebabs and a Moroccan soup, but the one detailed account of a chicken kebab found it bland and unmarinated, with nothing Moroccan about it. The last review, in 2018, found the wait long and the food unremarkable, which is a flat note to end on after years of praise.
