Crepetize

Crepetize is a crêpe, waffle and ice-cream café in the ICC Commercial Centre at the north end of Main Street, scoring 3.7 on Google across 36 reviews. It is not on Tripadvisor, so the Index of 3.90 rests on Google alone. We re-read the reviews on 6 September 2026, and the picture has changed sharply since our last read in July: the Google score has fallen from 4.2.

Between May and early August 2026 the crêpes were doing well. Reviewers praised a Nutella crêpe, a well-made crêpe and smoothie, an elegant room and friendly service, with Jade named for her warmth, at what one called a reasonable price.

From mid-August 2026 the tone turns. Six one-star reviews in under three weeks, most from Spanish-speaking visitors, centre on the ice cream: hard, unlabelled, tasting long-frozen, badly served and dear at £5.60 for two scoops. The newest describes the server handling a cone bare-handed straight after wiping tables with a wet cloth, pulling a supermarket tub of vanilla from the freezer, and refusing cash. Others say the staff look miserable, the coffee orders are not understood and the floor needs a sweep.

Even before August the record had rough edges: a customer left after being served out of turn in April, a group was handed plastic cups and slammed coffee half an hour before closing in February, and a May reviewer called the cakes frozen and very expensive.

Come for a crêpe on a quiet afternoon if you must, and stick to the crêpes rather than the ice cream; go knowing the summer of 2026 has brought a run of complaints about hygiene, quality and price that the earlier warm reviews do not outweigh.
