Our review

Europa Point Cafe is the only cafe at the southern tip of the Rock, between the lighthouse and the mosque, and it scores 3.2 on Tripadvisor from 82 reviews and 3.6 on Google from 476, for an Index of 3.60. We re-read the reviews on 6 September 2026, and the newest are from late August. The pattern has not moved since our last read: people rate the location highly and the cafe itself much less so.

The Google side is kinder than Tripadvisor, and it is mostly about simple things: good coffee, cakes that reviewers in several languages call excellent, a proper full English on a good day, quick service for drinks and a terrace with Africa clearly visible across the strait. Cyclists and walkers describe it as exactly the rest stop they needed, and a few name friendly staff. One practical note from a French visitor: euros are not accepted, they exchange notes on the spot and give change in pounds.

The complaints are just as consistent. Cleanliness comes first: sparrows inside the seating area, on tables and walls, appear in reviews from December 2025, April and June 2026, and dirty tables and floors go back further. Prices draw the sharpest words, with one walker charged nearly £12 for a coffee and a bottle of water, and another advising you to check the bill because they were overcharged.

Then there is the welcome. The 2026 reviews on both platforms describe staff who are brusque, arrogant or shouting: a group told off in August, a customer refused help calling a taxi in July, and a rule that drinks bought from the fridge cannot be drunk inside that more than one visitor found baffling. A manager refusing a paying customer the toilet is an older account, but it fits. Orders also arrive far apart or not at all, with one family's third meal simply forgotten.

Come because you are already at Europa Point and want coffee, cake or a full English with the view, and keep the order simple; check the bill, and do not expect much warmth. Horrible horrible and horrible
So we sat down and I politely asked if there was croissants they laughed and got really mad at me then me and my friend had the vape on the table and told us off we put it back then someone else came shouting at us the food eventually came and we got drinks from the fridge and we didn’t know we couldn’t drink the drink inside the restauramore →

Utterly without charm
The staff literally throw the food at you. Also check your bill because they overcharged us. Very basic food served by staff who clearly hate their job.more →

Wouldn’t go back
Birds flying around leaving discharge around the cafe. Waiters not very friendly, and seems they didn’t want people there. Hot chocolate came as warm milk, and separate powder meaning you had to mix the powder AFTER the milk had been poured meaning it didn’t mix well. Just didn’t feel welcome or clean. Wouldn’t go back. I Like It - But clean up more often.
I like the place overall, the staff are great and attentive, the prices are okay, and the drinks and food are good. The downside is they are let down by the cleanliness. It takes no time to clean up the tables properly; and as for the floor(!), how difficult can it be to sweep it every now and then.more →
