Our review

La Piedra is a pan-Asian restaurant in the Watergardens, out on the Westside. It holds 4.7 on Tripadvisor from 23 reviews and 4.3 on Google from 56, which gives an Index of 4.40. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest Tripadvisor review is from July and the newest Google one from June, so the summer has been quiet on both sites.

The enthusiasm is out of proportion to the size of the sample. Several reviewers call it the best meal of their visit, and regulars describe working through the menu across return trips. Named dishes: calamari rings and Mongolian beef, black pepper lamb, the ribs, honey chilli potato and mock duck, and a sizzling brownie for pudding; the vegetarian options are called top tier. One lunch of starter, main, wine, brandy and coffee came to thirty-five pounds.

Ramesh, the owner, is thanked for making people feel like family and for organising a large group lunch, and the service is described as attentive without hovering. The room is modern and air-conditioned, a cruise passenger found it a useful escape from the heat, and one reviewer notes the drinks are cheap.

One review outweighs its count. A coeliac diner on New Year's Eve, posting the same account on both sites in January 2026, made a strict gluten-free requirement clear when booking and ordering, waited over two hours, found a noodle in a rice dish, and was asked whether someone at the table had put it there; they advise anyone with allergies to avoid the place. Against that, a diner in October 2025 says dairy and gluten intolerances were catered for without fuss. The other complaint is a ten per cent service charge added without warning on the menu, and a premium rum charged when the standard one was ordered.

Come for sharing plates that regulars rate the best in Gibraltar, strong vegetarian choices and an owner who makes returning customers; go in knowing it is out at the Watergardens, the sample is modest and quiet since July, and one serious allergen account should be weighed by anyone coeliac. The Best Meal of our Weekend
We visited La Piedra during a weekend away with a friend and it was, without question, the best meal we had while in Gibraltar. The food was genuinely delicious, beautifully presented and full of flavour. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. Fantastic Asian fusion food joint, vibe was cool, drinks were cheap with plenty of options, and most importantly the food was excellent! Everything was tasty, but the highlight was absolutely the black pepper lamb.
