Library Cafe is a small café at 329 Main Street, in what one reviewer calls a tranquil spot away from the bustle. It is not on Tripadvisor; on Google it has 3.0 from 8 reviews, seven with text, re-read on 6 September 2026. That is well under the fifteen needed for a ranking, so it is listed but not ranked. The newest review is from August 2026, but it reads as someone who has not yet visited, so we discount it; the newest real visit is from April 2026.
The kindest reviews are the briefest. One, from April 2026, calls it a good stop to buy a book with decent coffee; a 2024 regular praises good food at reasonable prices in a shady, sheltered spot used by locals, including builders collecting packed sandwiches.
The rest is bad, and specific. A January 2025 reviewer found green mucus on chips and, on another visit, a wire, and was offered free chips next time; the 2024 reviews describe rude staff, below-average food, a poor full English, tea topped up from another cup, a forgotten cheesecake that smelt of a dirty fridge, and staff with little English. These are older complaints, and nothing recent either confirms or rebuts them.

Found a green mucus on chips and on another occasion a wire ! This is not normal. When staff informed was told ‘it will not happen again and we will give you free chips next time ‘. Answer to this is never going backmore →

Extremely rude staff with no respect for customers. Food is below average and not worth the money. Just go to Jury’s Cafe which is a 3 min walk away from this terrible place.more →

Very good food , reasonable price, tranquil location away from the hustle and bustle of main street. Used by locals, including builders that pick up the packed sandwiches. Shady area out of the windmore →
