Our review

Piccadilly Garden Bar is a garden bar and restaurant on a busy road up from the town centre, scoring 3.1 on Tripadvisor from 392 reviews and 3.2 on Google from 677, for an Index of 3.20. We re-read the reviews on 6 September 2026, and the newest are from the end of August. Both platforms now agree on a low number, and the reasons are the ones we found in July.

Price and value is the loudest complaint, and it has grown teeth in 2026. Three Brazilian reviewers in April describe being charged £15 for bread and olives they were told would be free; a German couple in June paid £36 for fish and chips with raw, cold chips; a July visitor calls a £22.50 jug of sangria outrageous and the whole place a tourist trap that used to be good. A poor pound-to-euro rate that cost one party about 18 per cent also gets a mention.

Service is the other constant. The August 2026 accounts on both platforms describe being handed a menu and then forgotten for twenty or thirty minutes while locals were served, and leaving without eating; a May reviewer's second drink never came. Older reviews add forgotten orders met without apology, a manager blaming the waiter, and staff from unfriendly to rude. The October 2025 account of rotten, ammonia-smelling lobster and flies is still on record and still unverified, and a later reviewer says they read it and left.

It is not all one way. A German visitor at the end of August had a perfect half hour in the greenery with a mozzarella and tomato salad; a June couple rated their prawns, chorizo and desserts eleven out of ten with a warm, chatty server; a repeat visitor praises the grilled sardines year after year; a family in June found everything delicious. The garden, the shade and the welcome for dogs are what the good reviews have in common, and Maite is named warmly.

Come for a cold drink in the garden if you are walking past and want a rest, and if you eat, order simply and ask what the bread costs before it lands. For a meal, the weight of the reviews says go elsewhere. Terrible Service
I have walked past this restaurant on previous holidays and always fancied popping in. Today was that day....upon arrival my presence seemed an inconvenience. I sat down and watched the locals and their friends being served for 20 minutes before i was offered a menu. I ordered a beer and whilst waiting for it to arrive I watched a couple more →

Lovely garden pub and restaurant
Great place with a huge selection of food and a nice garden style area. Foods okay staff friendly but I just love to sit hear and watch the world go by. Better than the pub across the toad where I would not recommend families as it’s mostly for drinkers and the food is not greatmore →

Direkt an Bergstraße und mit Glück fährt eine Harley vorbei. Das war unvergesslich. Du sitzt selbst im grünen, und überall der schöne Felsen. Ich hatte Mozerella\Tomate Salat. This week I have had the best plate of grilled Sardines ever. Simply done, seasoned well. Staff were really good and looked after us. Well done! We visited again this yr.2025.
