Our review

Rock Noodles is a small counter-service Asian kitchen on Engineer Lane, a few minutes from Casemates, with a couple of tables outside on the slope: 3.8 on Tripadvisor from 45 reviews, 3.9 on Google from 151, and an Index of 3.90. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026 and run to August. It remains one of the most divided listings in the Index, and the division has not narrowed.

The praise is as strong as ever. A February 2026 reviewer calls the beef pho possibly the best they have ever had and names the owner, Leyla, as a sweetheart and a fine cook; others in 2026 call it the best food of their trip, came back two days running, and found the bebek and tahu goreng amazing. Regulars of nine years still come every visit. The menu ranges across Asia, Indonesian dishes and rendang alongside pad thai and pho, everything is cooked fresh, and the couple who run it are described as hardworking, polite and chatty.

The complaints cluster around takeaway and delivery. A four-year resident in May 2026 calls it the worst takeaway in Gibraltar, and a Google reviewer the same month describes £13 of boiled noodles with pak choi and four prawns and a £3 powdered drink served in a plastic bag. Delivery orders arrive late and wrong, one in July 2026 with the wrong beer, and one caller was offered no recompense. Older reviews add greasy, sauceless pad thai with almost no chicken, spring rolls with an unidentifiable filling, and a messy shop.

The practical advice from the reviews has not changed. Eat in or collect rather than order through the apps, expect a wait because everything is cooked to order and it is often busy, and ask the couple what is good that day rather than picking blind.

Just pretty crap
How they get away with being a takeaway option in Gibraltar is baffling. Lived here for 4 years and this is the worst takeaway I’ve had. The food is just not authentic and has absolutely no taste. I’d stay away if you want anything that’s worth the money you pay for. Cook at home because it’ll be better than what they send.more →

Ordered home delivery through Hungry Monkey. Prawn Pad Thai was a grey/brown mix of overcooked rice, overcooked vegetables and a few prawns all squashed up together in a takeaway box. Wow, just bought noodles foryself and daughter from this place 20 minutes ago. Bloody Awful. This won't be a one-off bad experience, the noodles here is a boiled soft noodles with a few things, also boiled thrown in. Go to your local supermarket, buy those noodles for a pound a packet, boil them, throw in some Pak choi and 4 prawns and chmore →
