Our review

The Little Rock is a bar-restaurant on Casemates Square with a fairy-lit terrace: 4.0 on Tripadvisor from 617 reviews, 4.2 on Google from 1,023, and an Index of 4.10. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026, and the newest are from the first days of that month. It is one of the least contested pages in this Index: 27 recent reviews with text and barely a hard word among them.

Service carries it, and waiters are named in review after review: Sam most of all, Hamza (also written Hansa), Alex, a waiter who supports Bath Rugby, and a run of Romanian staff a Romanian visitor was delighted to find. Solo business travellers say they are looked after, late arrivals are made welcome, and a family of four with a pushchair was seated quickly on a busy night.

The food is straightforward and rated well for what it is. Fish and chips, BBQ ribs and burgers are the repeat orders, with lamb and pork ribs called the best a reviewer had eaten, a prawn gratin as a light plate, fillet steak, beef burritos, swordfish and gambas, a chicken satay taco as a special, and apple pie, banoffee and Eton mess to finish. Portions are generous, prices are called more than reasonable, the cocktails are well priced, and there is Kilkenny on tap, which two reviewers were pleased to find.

The caveats are small. A regular in July 2026 says the outside area is quite scruffy compared with the tasteful interior, one reviewer notes it is not the cheapest, and it fills, so it is lively rather than quiet. That is about all the recent record holds against it.

Good Food - Good Location
I have been here many times. On the whole it's a nice place, and the food is always good and plentiful. The inside is tastefully decorated, but the outside area is quite scruffy. The staff are attentive, and in particular Alex, he always has a smile and great manner. It'd be really nice if everyone could be like him.more →

A Great Place to Eat in Gibraltar
During our recent holiday in Gibraltar, we spent a few evenings at Little Rock and loved it every time. The atmosphere was great, whether you sat inside or outside, and the staff were always friendly and welcoming. The food was the real highlight.
