Our review

TimeOut is a bar and cafe opposite Morrisons, seven or eight minutes' walk from Casemates, with a large covered terrace and table or bar service. It holds 3.7 on Tripadvisor from 32 reviews and 3.9 on Google from 208, for an Index of 3.90. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest Google review is from June 2026 and the newest Tripadvisor review from March 2026, so the picture is a few months old.

The Google reviews of 2026 are warmer than the Tripadvisor ones, and they agree on what to order. Churros with coffee is the recurring pleasure, one Easter 2026 visitor rating the place "100/100" for crisp churros and patient staff on a packed morning, and another calling the full English the best in Gibraltar and the curry nice too. It reads as a locals' place: school-run parents, Morrisons shoppers, meetings over tea.

The bad visits are about waiting and being forgotten rather than about the cooking. A January 2026 Spanish reviewer waited 55 minutes for breakfast because the order was never put through, then found the manager rude; a March 2026 visitor was ignored in an almost empty room; and a regular of many years wrote in March 2026 that it had gone steadily downhill, sat fifteen minutes to order, found they had no tomato for toast, and took their weekly custom to the Lunchbox next door. The two-hour burger waits are from 2023, but they fit the same shape.

Older Tripadvisor reviews are a mix of great-value fry-ups and single-waitress chaos, and understaffing is the explanation offered more than once, from 2017 to 2026. Prices are consistently called fair, and a pre-booked group lunch in the upstairs room was praised.

Come for churros and a coffee, or a cheap cooked breakfast, when the terrace is not heaving; it is a convenient stop at the Morrisons end rather than a destination. It's gone too far downhill - So I'll be taking some "Timeout" and not going there again.
As the title says. It's steadily gone downhill and reached the point today where I've decided not to frequent this place until I know it's back to the high standard of the past. Today I sat there a full 15 minutes waiting to place an order. They were busy so you can expect a wait. Nevertheless when I placed my order they didn't have what more →

Disappointed ☹️
We were here for lunch on Sunday. We ordered two burgers, one beef, one chicken and a goat cheese salad. We had to wait TWO HOURS to get our food!! To top it all the food was not great either. The burger bun was hard and I couldn't eat it. My chicken burger was dry and tasteless and the goat cheese tasted more like fried mozzarella. And amore →

Fish and Chips
The restaurant is over the road from Morrisons, making it an ideal pitstop when I had heavy shopping to take back to Morocco. I honestly didn't want to go to McDonald's. It's very welcoming, I must say. There was a lovely young woman serving me. I really wanted fish and chips as I can't get it in Morocco, of course, so that was my order. more →

Slow service.
Timeout is frequent by locals and parents picking up from school so always busy. However I didn’t have to wait long for someone to take our order, Which was a Maltese and coffee. The cake arrived but no drink, I had to remind the waiter I was still waiting for the coffee. He said it was on it’s way but there was no signs of anyone making more →

100/100! This place delivers excellently on all fronts - food, service, value for money, location and ambience. We visited over the Easter weekend - the place was brimming with morning breakfast crowd but the servers were patient, friendly and attentive. We ordered churros, petitas with Nutella dip and cappuccinos. Uff so crisp and so tasmore →
