Our review

UDAYA is a new beach club and restaurant on Eastern Beach, about fifteen minutes' walk from the marina. It was a Google-only listing until today; its Tripadvisor page was found and attached on 6 September 2026, so Tripadvisor now counts alongside Google. It stands at 2.3 from just 3 Tripadvisor reviews and 4.7 from 88 on Google, for an Index of 4.60. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026; the newest on each site is from August 2026, and the two scores could hardly be further apart.

Google tells the happy version. The reviews from August are almost all five stars and are mostly about the setting and the staff: cold beers, sunset, comfortable seating, music at the right level, and a team named one by one, Eric, Lola, Yeray and Chanel. Where the food gets detail it lands well: squid cooked properly, a finely sliced salad, corn on the cob cut cleverly, a smashed burger and fish burger on proper plates rather than beach-club paper. Locals write that Gibraltar needed this and that it may save them a drive into Spain.

Tripadvisor tells the other version, and it is specific. A July 2026 one-star describes broken sunbeds, an hour's wait for food, running out of potatoes, overpriced drinks and a large roped-off area kept for the owners while paying guests sat cramped. A two-star in late August, from a birthday party booked to run until 1am, describes chairs being taken away from under people at half past eleven. A German Google reviewer makes the same point in milder terms, five or six staff on the floor yet guests on the loungers unattended, while the single positive Tripadvisor review, a four, found £12 loungers fair and coffee at £2.50 delivered to the sunbed.

Read together, the two sites describe a place with a fine location and warm staff that has not yet worked out how to run a busy afternoon or close an evening. The Google score is the broader base and the truer guide to a normal visit; the Tripadvisor score rests on three reviews and will move with the next few. Both agree the potential is obvious.

Come for a day on the loungers with drinks and a burger, and go expecting a first-season operation rather than a polished one; if you book an event, confirm the closing time in writing. Nobody from Gibraltar Index has eaten here, and this write-up is drawn from the reviews.

So much potential, but a really disappointing ending.
We were here celebrating my friend’s 50th birthday and for the most part, we had a great evening. I initially thought I might be being unfair about the way the night ended, as I later saw that their advertised closing time is 10pm. Great food on the beach
Located on the Eastern Beach, 15 minutes walk from the Marina. We spent a day on the beach there was a lovely laid back vibe. £12 per lounger was a fair price, comfortable lounger not hard plastic ones. Coffee was good £2.50 per cup delivered to your lounger. An overpriced disorganised mess.
Awful experience .... An overpriced disorganised mess. The sun beds are not fit for purpose and either break when you use them or are already broken. The food menu is limited and when we were there, they had run out of some pretty fundamental ingredients like potatoes and don't bother telling you until the last minute when you order. Foodmore →

Die Location ist sehr schön und modern. Toiletten sind sauber und insgesamt macht das Lokal einen guten Eindruck. Die Nachos und Margaritas waren ebenfalls lecker.
