Veranda Bar And Terrace

The Veranda is the ground-floor bar and terrace of the Eliott Hotel on Governor's Parade, at the edge of the Old Town: 4.1 on Tripadvisor from 75 reviews, no Google count on file, so the Index of 4.10 rests on Tripadvisor alone. The reviews were re-read on 6 September 2026. The newest is from July 2025, and only 15 carry any text, so this is a thin and mostly old picture.

The recent word is good. The July 2025 reviewer found a nice menu, good staff, reasonable prices, well-prepared food and, usefully in Gibraltar, late opening, with a choice of indoor or outdoor tables. A January 2024 review names Hayal for the service and Miguel for the drinks, and earlier reviews add burgers and the sort of British plates hotels here serve, a shrimp salad, and a supervisor behind the bar who steered people to good choices.

Much of the older material is really about the hotel's rooftop bistro rather than this bar: Christmas lunches and a New Year dinner from 2016 and 2017 with a sea bass on asparagus risotto, a smoky chicken parfait and views across the bay. Those are nearly a decade old and describe a different room, so read them as background rather than a guide to what the Veranda serves now.

The one serious complaint, from June 2024, is about an event booking: a date requested in February for September, a detailed meeting with a member of staff, then no offer, and the date given away. Earlier grumbles are older still, a restricted menu during a refurbishment, a microwaved shepherd's pie, lager served in Guinness glasses, and a 2017 visitor who found it closed. None of that is recent.

Come for a late drink or an easy, fairly priced meal on a terrace by the Old Town, with the hotel's bar staff to steer you; book any function through the hotel rather than assuming the floor will carry it.
